Monnye Mabelebele

Prof Monnye Mabelebele is an Agricultural Scientist, with more than 9 years’ experience in lecturing at the tertiary level. She has PhD in Animal Science from the University of New England in Australia, MSc and BSc from the University of Limpopo. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. Currently, she is working with the University of South Africa as an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture and Animal Health, lecturing modules, supervising postgraduate students, and involved in several community-based projects. Prof Mabelebele is a sub-editor of the South African Journal of Animal Science, a 2020 recipient of the Unisa’s Emerging Women in Research Prize for Excellence in Research. She is also an NRF-Y rated researcher. She has contributed chapters/series in books, has over thirty (30) articles in internationally accredited journals, presented at several local and international conferences. She has successfully supervised 2 Masters and 1 Doctoral student to competition and currently supervising 13 MD’s. She is currently serving as external reviewer/examiner for NRF and WRC funding applications, masters’ dissertations, and PhD theses for tertiary institutions in South Africa.  She is a member of several international bodies both nationally and international including the South African Association of Women graduates.
