Erick Strauss is Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Stellenbosch University. He holds a PhD from Cornell University in the USA (obtained in 2003) and is regarded as a leading authority on the biosynthesis and enzymology of the essential metabolic cofactor, Coenzyme A. Currently his research interests focuses on targeting pathways dependent on this cofactor for antimicrobial drug design.
